OUR RESIDENTS

BINX -- Binx is a curious, energetic boy! He was born October 2021 to a dumped momma who had just been rescued. He was brought to a local shelter with his mom & siblings at only a few days old. He got vaccinated & neutered & spent the first year of his life in a wonderful foster home. Binx is immunocompromised & came to us VERY sick. Binx contracted syphilis when he went back to the shelter & was in absolute misery; he couldn't beat it, couldn't heal, & wasn't happy at all. We took him in July 2023 as a medical foster & administered penicillin injections for 4 weeks. He was in strict medical quarantine, but we still made sure to love on him & tell him how brave & strong he is. He got worse before he got better. His whole face was crusted with painful open sores. He was losing his hair in clumps & developed a yeast infection on his face from the antibiotics - still he was such a little fighter. His sores started healing. As soon as he was no longer contagious to other rabbits, he got to move from his little medical pen to an x pen. He was SO happy, he binkied for 15 minutes straight! Bundad invited him into his office & they fell in love. He taught Binx how to trust humans & how to get cozy. They built blanket forts on the couch, they watched movies. Binx finally felt safe, happy & hopeful. His hair grew back over the next few months. Once he was cleared to meet other rabbits, he was moved into a pen next to Leonard & their friendship blossomed over time. Binx was a foster rabbit until January 2024 when we officially adopted him because we knew there was no way we could say goodbye to that little man. People see him as a cute, average black bunny. I look at Binx & see an absolute warrior spirit who is the epitome of strength, patience & resilience. Watching Binx heal & find happiness has made my heart unbelievably happy. We love this boy, thanks for loving him with us.

BOWIE -- Bowie is our most cuddly bunny who uniquely prefers human company over other rabbits. He loves being pet & kissed & cuddled! Bowie is our oldest bunny at 8 years old. He was brought into Everett Animal Services as a stray in August 2018 & named Fernando. He had a severe head tilt, infection & extreme balance issues. He was immediately transferred to Rabbit Meadows in Poulsbo where the founder, Sandi, loved on him for almost 6 years. She renamed him Bowie in honor of David Bowie. In Sandi’s care, his balance issues resolved, his head tilt got better & he got the medical care he needed. She taught him to trust & love humans. She contacted us to be his forever home when she had to focus on her own health & unfortunately dissolve Rabbit Meadows. Bowie arrived here at CRRR April 5, 2024. Sadly, Sandi passed away on July 12. She leaves behind such a wonderful legacy of 36 years of rabbit rescue; I like to think she watches over Bowie every day. It was an absolute honor for her to choose our founder, Mandie to be his forever. Bowie is on hospice care with us. He has inoperable masses on his heart & lungs, greatly affecting his breathing. Our vet has him on some comfort medications & we will love him until his last moment. Bowie has a special soul in him; you can feel it when you’re with him. We will spend his retirement years loving on him with all that we’ve got!

INGRID -- Our girl Ingrid defied all odds by being here with us today! She is the sweetest cuddle bug & finds joy in every single day. Ingrid’s story starts with the generation before her. Her parents were bred to be eaten, but the humans keeping them were sick of caring for them & carelessly dumped of their rabbits outside to fend for themselves while being unaltered. These human started using the rabbits as target practice so they took shelter in the neighbor’s barn. They soon started breeding & Ingrid was found as a baby in a hay pile. She was born with the disability splay legs affecting both of her back legs. Unfortunately, because she couldn’t move around, she couldn’t access food or water or get away from rats that started eating her alive. She was found by the owners of the barn & we were contacted. We said yes immediately & she was rescued December 22, 2023. We also arranged for the rescue of 7 of her relatives who went to Rabbit Haven. Upon meeting her we knew her prognosis was extremely guarded; we weren’t even sure she would survive the first 24 hours. She was malnourished, hypothermic, dehydrated, had a life-threatening bladder infection, severe urine scald, an extremely distended belly & rat bite wounds. We got her medical attention that same day, got medicine in her & proper bunny formula. Our founder was up with her every 3 hours the first week she was here to do formula feeds. Slowly, she got healthier, stronger, more alert & happier. She still is on daily medication for chronic bladder infections, as well as pain management & gut health, but she sure takes her meds like a champion! Every day with Ingrid is truly a gift. She has the biggest will to live we have ever seen. She is such a happy girl who doesn’t let her disabilities keep her down!

LEONARD -- Leonard is the happiest boy who loves every rabbit he meets! Leonard was part of a 20+ dumped rabbit rescue in January 2023 in Oregon. Leonard has a spinal cord injury & nerve damage after being dumped outside in freezing temperatures. He was found down next to a deceased possum & it's believed they got into an altercation over resources or protection. Avalon Microsanctuary, along with a few other rescues, brought every bunny to safety & provided initial medical care. Thankfully, they rescued these special rabbits the night before 2 feet of snow fell. We had space for Leonard so we welcomed him in with open arms! He joined CRRR in June 2023, while we were waiting for our incorporation acceptance from the state; he was our first official resident. We spent a lot of time working with him on strength & mobility with the guidance of our amazing vet. We got him neutered & showed him just how sweet life can be! He loves his pillows & blankets, plays with lots of toys & is extremely food motivated. We don’t know what his past looked like before he was dumped in that field, but he won’t ever have to wonder where his next meal is coming from. Over the 1+ year that he has been with us, his obsession with food has mellowed as he has learned trust. He has since healed from his injuries & will forever be disabled. He came from a history of neglect & has a forever ahead of him filled with love. It is an honor to care for Leonard. He brings joy to us every single day!

MONTGOMERY -- Montgomery arrived here July 6 2024. She is a sassy, opinionated girl with a ton of energy. Montgomery’s story began in Spokane, WA where she was witnessed being thrown from a car as a baby. The woman that witnessed this took her in & named her Monty (at the time thinking she was a he). Montgomery has a back splay leg & is differently – abled, but still manages to get around well! Our friend Jess from Onalaska Farm Sanctuary drove to meet the woman to transfer 3 hamsters to another rescue. When she showed up, she saw Monty & begged her to let her take her to a rescue that was well versed with splay leg buns. Jess transferred Monty to Avalon Microsanctuary in Oregon where she lived for 9 months. They contacted us back in October asking if we would take her if they couldn’t find the perfect adoptive home for her. June came along & we made plans to bring her to us for her forever home! She doesn’t let her disability get her down & is actually incredibly fast! She has learned how to move around well using her front arms & can still do normal bunny activities like flopping & binkying. She is an amazing, sassy little girl who fits in so perfectly with our group of special buns!

FIONA -- Fiona came to us January 25 2025. She was rescued from a horrible neglect/abuse case around Olympia, WA with 13 other rabbits. She is a beautiful 4 year old angora rabbit with a ton of spunk & personality! She came to us scared, malnourished & had a basal tumor in her dewlap. She had a tumor removal immediately & has gained the weight she needed to in our care. We are working with her to trust humans & know that not all humans are bad. She We have had her spayed, where the vet discovered that her uterus was full of cysts & cancerous masses. She is healing both physically & emotionally, which is letting her beautiful personality bloom!

FINLEY -- Finley came to us with Fiona on January 25 2025 from a horrible neglect/abuse case. He is the sweetest 5 year old angora rabbit. Finley is extremely loving & cuddly. He is currently a down rabbit with moderate arthritis in his entire lumbar spine. He came to us extremely malnourished & anemic; we have been able to correct these issues with diet while in our care! Finley uses pads & mobility aids to keep him comfortable. We are doing daily physical therapy with him in hopes to regain some mobility. Despite the neglect & abuse Finley previously experienced, he loves being pet & kissed & is extremely loving & grateful.
