About Us
Hello! We are Country Road Rabbit Rescue, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Gig Harbor, Washington. We became incorporated on August 3rd, 2023. Our founder, Mandie is a long time vegan, animal rights activist & animal rescue volunteer. We saw a need in our area for a special rescue for special rabbits & Country Road Rabbit Rescue was born after fostering a very special bunny named Navi. See his full story below. Mandie & Navi are pictured to the right.
We focus on relieving pressure from local shelters & rescues by pulling “unadoptable” rabbits. We don’t adopt out our rabbits; they are with us for life. They live out their best lives with us while receiving specialized, individual care.
We are volunteer run & funded solely by generous tax deductible donations. We don’t have a public location, but are run out of our founder’s residence.

The Reason For Our Rescue✨
Meet Navi, the rabbit who changed my life.
Navi was born in a lab & used for testing for a year. Instead of being euthanized after 1 year, as is standard practice, he was liberated into rescue at Rabbit Haven. He was positive for E. Cuniculi & that parasite progression rendered him paralyzed & suffering from frequent seizures. He came into our home as a medical foster for hospice care. We got to be his only family in his short life & it was an absolute honor.

Navi Capps left his Earthly body in my arms, hearing me sing John Denver’s song Take Me Home, Country Roads. He spent the day cozy with mom & dad being kissed & told he was brave & loved & he mattered. We told him that the other side has all the grapes & strawberries he could imagine; he could run as fast as he wants to in a body that isn't broken. That brave boy crossed over on his own & we are so proud of him.
I can't even begin to tell you what a deep, special soul Navi was. He greeted us every morning with a giant smile on his face. He is so missed everyday. He is the reason for Country Road Rabbit Rescue. After caring for Navi, I knew my purpose in life was to provide the very best care to rabbits who needed specialized medical care. I created a space where “unadoptable” rabbits could come to live out their best lives, while clearing space in local shelters & rescues. I believe Navi guides rabbits that need us, to us. Country Road Rabbit Rescue is where rabbits come home to the place they belong 🫶🏼
